This past September, we went on a family vacation to Destin, Florida. The beaches were white, the water was clear and the weather was pretty close to perfect (albeit maybe a tad bit windy out on the water).

Break out your beach chairs and umbrellas and just relax. Read a book, watch the birds flying, take a nap. Just enjoy the scenery and fresh air.

If you have a boat, know someone who does, or want to rent one, check out Crab Island. Park your boat and relax in the shallow water sipping cocktails and eating boiled peanuts from concession boats. Just be prepared to pee in the ocean.

Take a dip in the water and leave a few footprints in the sand. Will they immediately be washed away by the tide? Probably. But do it anyway.

You don’t have to be a kid to play in the sand.

Take a nighttime stroll along the beach. Keep an eye out for sand crabs.

Enjoy the stars and the magical feel of the ocean sounds at night.

Have fun and try not to worry about the stressors of life.

Happy beaching!
