Favorite Travel Photos of 2019

We’re taking a break from our Italy series this month to do a special end of the year post. We thought we’d share our favorite travel photos of 2019.

Lincoln Memorial, Washington, DC

Arguably the most impressive of the monuments and memorials we visited in DC was the Lincoln Memorial. It’s so iconic and really impressive up close. Lincoln commanded attention as president and this memorial does that awe inspiring nature justice.

Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, DC

Art is… you know, artistic. This was a really cool display in the Smithsonian American Art Museum that had TV screens in each state showing a show (or maybe shows) from the state (I think, tbh it was super crowded and hard to get close up and all the shows were old so…) Either way, it was huge and impressive and mad props to the person who made it!

Nationals Park, Washington, DC

Technically, this is more about the person in the photo than the photo itself. I, Courtney, am a huge Brian McCann fan and he is probably my favorite player of all time. I took this pic while we were watching the Braves take on the Nats not knowing it would be the last time I would see B-Mac play. He retired at the end of this season so this photo is especially special now.

Franklin Fountain, Philadelphia, PA

Looking for magnificent ice cream in Philly? Look no further! The Franklin Fountain is our favorite spot. We made a point of going there on our brief stay this year. The honeycomb ice cream is divine and the store is like a trip back in time. However, it has all sorts of flavors from classic to innovative. It’s definitely a nice treat!

Broadway Street, Nashville, TN

If you’ve ever wanted to see 800 bachelorette parties happening at once, venture out to Broadway at pretty much any time of day. The rooftop bars are where it’s at because you can enjoy the music of your bar and some of the others as you bask in the neon glow and cacophony that makes Nashville amazing.

White House, Washington, DC

White fence blocking a close up view aside, seeing the White House in person was well worth the long and sweaty walk to get there.

Washington Monument, Washington, DC

Many historical events have taken place at the Washington Monument, along with many movie moments (Forrest Gump anyone?). Standing on the opposite side of the pool, seeing the reflection of the monument and the Capitol in the background was a neat experience.

Cloudland Canyon State Park, Rising Fawn, Georgia

If you’re a fan of nature and moderate to difficult hikes, check out Cloudland Canyon in northwest Georgia. The views are stellar!

RCA Studio B, Nashville, TN

If you’re a music buff, you’ve probably heard of RCA Studio B. Many a great artist has recorded here, including Elvis Presley, who stood on this very spot while recording. It’s the room’s musical sweet spot.

Holocaust Museum, Washington, DC

We’ve been to a lot of museums, but the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC was definitely the most moving and impactful. It’s one thing to read about this tragic event, but another to walk through seeing all of the faces of victims on the walls, a model of gas chambers, a large pile of discarded shoes… It was tough not to get emotional, especially hearing a little boy ask his mom why they would do that to people.
